The Land of the Osages Research Center is Now Open at the University of Missouri

On November 5, 2019, the University of Missouri’s College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (CANR) opened The Land of the Osages Research Center.  Doug Allen, establisher of MU’s H.E. Garrett Endowed Chair Professorship in 2006, funded this estate gift and aspired to build a partnership between Osage Nation and agroforestry, this research center will investigate this method of land use management.

In additon, Land of the Osages will join the Agricultural Experiment Station (AES), a network of research centers which collaborate around the state.  The future plans for this property include demonstration trials, internships, and workshops that provide agroforestry training to local communities.  Focused on the dense history of the Osage, the center plans to partner with Osage Nation to further develop research and more training opportunities.
