The Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the newest addition to its Visit Manhattan convention and visitor’s bureau team. George Kandt has been named convention sales manager for the CVB.
In his role, he will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies with the objective of attracting conventions, tradeshows and conferences to Manhattan.
Kandt is coming “home” to Manhattan spending a number of years in sales and marketing roles for a variety of companies in the Kansas City area. Most notable, Kandt spent 15 years in a variety of management positions for the Sprint Corporation in Overland Park. Additionally, he spent 12 years on the Overland Park City Council including a term as Council President. He also worked closely with the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce and CVB.
Having grown up in Manhattan, the move back was something he identified as being important, and the leadership team of the Chamber and CVB expressed excitement for the opportunity to hire someone with Kandt’s professional experience.
“We are thrilled that George has decided to return home to Manhappiness,” said Karen Hibbard, Vice President of MACC. “I have no doubt that he will hit the ground running and be an incredible asset to our organization and the tourism community in Manhattan as a whole.”
