On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, the Saint Louis Area Hotel Association held its board meeting at the Doubletree by Hilton in Chesterfield, MO. While matters of importance for the hotel industry in St. Louis MO were discussed, this was also a celebratory event; the recipients of the annual SLAHA scholarship were recognized and received their commemorative oversized checks.

One of the main topics covered during the meeting was the current debate on the taxation and regulation of Airbnb and other Short Term Rentals. Without any regulations in place, not only is it unfair to hotels who are vying to level the playing field, but it can be unsafe for travelers.
