Industry Update: STR’S U.S. HOTEL SUPPLY DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

The U.S. room construction total represented a 2.2% decrease compared with April 2017. The number of hotel rooms under construction in the U.S. has now declined in six of the last seven months. − April (-2.2%) − March (-2.4%) − February (-0.7%) − January (-1.6%) − December (-3.7%) − November (+0.6%) − October (-0.1%) At the time, the decrease in December was the largest year-over-year room construction decrease in the U.S. since September 2011 (-7.8%).
