The 2017 Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest was held on September 13th – 17th. Over 65,000 motorcycles and 90,000 people were in attendance for the 11th year of the event which saw growth with more bikes, more people and more overnight stays.
The Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest was advertised throughout the Midwest via biker publications, events, mailings, flyers, postcards, radio, billboard, internet, e-mail and biker word of mouth.
The organizers of the event hosted the a $20 passport and then rode to 24 separate locations where they received a stamp. At the conclusion of the ride, participants turned their completed passports in at the Lake of the Ozarks Harley-Davidson Shop for a drawing that was held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 17th. The lucky winner, Mike McCarty, from Ankeny,
IA, won a 2015 Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide. Proceeds from the Passport Program are used to promote the event, and a portion is allocated to benefit the efforts of the local chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association, Fishers of Men, for their participation in executing the Passport Program.
The event hosted four vendor village areas at Lake of the Ozarks Harley-Davidson,
Camden on the Lake, and along Bagnell Dam Blvd. Bagnell Dam Blvd saw consistent flow of motorcycles the entire weekend and there were over 100 restaurants, bars and biker-friendly entertainment and retail establishments catering to bikers throughout the lake area. Picklehead’s Roadhouse had numerous events and concerts throughout the weekend. As explained by Tim Jacobsen, Bikefest Committee Member and Executive Director of the Lake of the Ozarks Convention &
Visitors Bureau, “The Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest continues to attract more bikers
each year because of the quality of the vendors, the amount of larger entertainment facilities that cater to bikers and the wonderful experience provided by riding through the rolling hills surrounding the Lake of the Ozarks.” Every year there are
more activities and entertainment than the year before. “The communities of the lake area welcome and prepare each year
to host this event and the local businesses continue to exceed the bikers’ expectations,” states Jacobsen. The Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest major sponsors are Aaron Sachs & Associates, P.C., Jack Daniels (Glazer’s Distributors), The Leatherman, and City of Osage Beach & Harley-Davidson (Lake of the Ozarks Harley-Davidson).
