The Route du Vin is excited to add all new events to their lineup in 2017. The wine trail is comprised of six wineries located in the Ste. Genevieve area that hosts four events annually. Each winery on the trail has a special dish and wine pairing that fits the theme of each event. This year, the group has decided to mix things up in order to show the broad range of exceptional pairings Missouri wines have to offer.
Their next upcoming event scheduled for Saturday, February 18, 2017 is the Splendid Citrus Wine Trail. “Citrus is ripe in the winter and although winter is a common time to drink dry reds with little citrus notes, we wanted to give people the opportunity to liven up their winter palette,” mentions Elaine Mooney of Sainte Genevieve Winery.
Jour De La Terre is a new event Route du Vin wanted to put together in honor of Earth Day. Held on April 22, 2017, each winery will take on a different country by representing that country’s fare and pairing it with a wine in order to take guests around the world in a day. Missouri wines are incredibly versatile and the goal when creating this event was to show how well they pair with a variety of foods.
The last event of the year is their Harvest Celebration. “Harvest is an exciting time of year for wineries and we want to share that excitement with our guests. Once all the grape picking is done and juice has been put into tanks in order to create next year’s vintage, it is time to celebrate” comments Taylor Bartley of Chaumette Vineyards & Winery. The Harvest Celebration will be held on November 18, 2017.
Each event requires a ticket purchase which can be done through the Route du Vin website, www.rdvwinetrail.com.
